In Case You Missed It...

Orange You Glad
Review...

In case you accidentally missed the opening night of the Orange You Glad Music Festival, we have a quick recap of the highlights of last night's sumptuous show. In case you forgot, here's the lineup:

12:00AM DJ ADAM SMITH
11:30PM THE PAUSES
10:30PM MODERN SKIRTS
9:45PM VIERNES
9:00PM Oh Fortuna!

Oh Fortuna, a band of mystical misfits hailing straight from Gainesville started off the night with a myriad of musical musings. They kept the audience entranced with their upbeat dance grooves and captured our hearts with their earnest lyrics. Their enthusiasm and stage presence set the tone for the night ahead. The band works together well and you can tell they enjoy what they do. We can only hope they make many more visits to The Great Orlando so we can get our Oh Fortuna fix while we boogie down.

Next came the experimental musical gallivanting of Viernes. Made up of two well-known local genius musicians, Alberto Hernandez & Sean Moore, the newly formed Viernes pleasantly suprised us with twists and turns through musical mastery. They dazzled us with their instrumental expertise and took us on journies through other worlds with their sweet melodies. We are looking forward to hearing more from them in their future endeavors.

Then the Modern Skirts paid us a visit all the way from Georgia. Modern Skirts has a sizable following in Orlando and they did not let us down, bringing us the full, rich sound we've come to enjoy from them. The crowd got down while Modern Skirts played on. They will continue to hold a special place in the heart of the Orlando music fan.

The final band of the night was local band The Pauses: a band that started big and is only getting bigger. The pauses brought catchy tunes that sent warm fuzzies straight to the souls of everyone who heard them. The crowd rumbled as people sang along and swung their hips to the groovy ballads of the local sweethearts. Fun and dreamy, this is a band you won't want to miss next time around, or ever.

Finally, DJ Adam Smith threw down some sick beats and everyone danced the night away till the wee hours of the morn. And that's how it went down.

Overall, the night was a huge success and made us all proud of our local music scene. There was much fraternizing and a good time to be had by all. If you missed out on this night of mayhem, there is still time to get in on the action. Tonight the festivities extend to many more venues. I would definitely suggest you check it out if you haven't already. Times and venues are listed below, but you can also visit orangeyouglad.com for more information.
